Dispilio
The lake dwelling of Dispilio, brought to light by archaeologists, dates from the Neolithic Age (6000 -3000 BC). Archaeological finds reveal the way that prehistoric people constructed their houses and outbuildings on the lake and the way they organized their economic and social life. The studying and elaboration of these finds, which was carried out with the utmost caution helped to establish an accurate representation of the dwelling, so that visitors could have the right impression of the organization a lake dwelling that lived 7000 years before and created a very significant civilization. To this day, archaeological excavations have brought to light many important finds at the lake dwelling of Dispilio, such as jewellery of exquisite workmanship, statuettes, decorated ceramics, a Neolithic boat and signs of early writing, the deciphering of which may be of great historical significance.
